This all NEW CLE seminar presents a detailed explanation and analysis of the recently enacted the Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act which has dramatically changed the real estate landscape in NYC and NYS. Every attorney must be familiar with this new law even if you do not specialize in real estate!
In this series of three lectures on New York’s Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019 (HSTPA), renowned commentator and lecturer Dov Treiman examines the changes that were made to the laws of landlord-tenant relations, effective throughout New York State, applicable to both residential and commercial tenancies. The first lecture deals with HSTPA’s substantive changes. Mr. Treiman carefully distinguishes between those laws that are commercial in application and those that are residential in application, as well as those laws that are applicable only inside New York City and those that are not. Mr. Treiman provides both the substance of the law and its practical application, with warnings to practitioners about how these laws will require how they do business in landlord-tenant work. The second lecture deals with HSTPA’s procedural changes. The third lecture deals with HSTPA’s changes to rent regulation and just what it means that under HSTPA, rent regulation is now potentially applicable throughout the State of New York.
