Morning Session: The morning session will feature a detailed New York State tax update by Mark Klein and Joe Endres including the following topics: The effect of OBBBA on State & Local Taxes including new SALT and PTET rules; 2025-2026 NYS Budget including new NY tax deductions and credits; New $5,000 threshold for corporate estimate tax payments; NYS and NYC Tax Enforcement Procedures; Residency Rules explained and highlighted; Nonresident Allocations; NYS Estates and Trusts Update; NYS Withholding Rules Update; Sales and Use Tax Update.
The afternoon session at the hotel will feature two sections. Part 1: OBBBA & International Taxation by Scott Ahroni & Andy Wang. The OBBBA has significant implications for multinational taxpayers and their businesses. The OBBBA made several welcome changes to the Foreign Tax Credit (“FTC”) rules, making it more likely that US companies will be able to use credits. The OBBBA also included name changes to GILTI and FDII. Although BEAT retains its name, its tax rate has permanently increased from 10% in 2025 to 10.5%. The OBBBA also includes a new Remittance Tax, permanent extension of the Section 954(c)(6) look-through rule for CFCs, additional downward attribution rules were added to incorporate foreign-controlled CFCs (FCFCs) in the downward attribution rules.
